I do not have a green thumb. I have owned a few plants in my life, I have killed just as many.
I do however love flowers, and this year for V-day my brother, wife, and kiddos gave me some fabulous gerbera daisies. Very pretty, very me - (gotta love daisies), very thoughtful. The only problem is that they are potted. Ideally that means that you get to keep them for longer, and I convinced myself this time I’d make it work. I’ve been very attentive to them, even looked up online some care instructions.
Today when I returned home from work, I noticed their little heads drooping. Even the little small ones that I thought were just starting to grow. :( I definitely seem to be lacking in the green thumb department. I’m not completely sure what I’ve done wrong.
I think I’ve decided I prefer cut flowers to potted ones - then at least they are supposed to die, and I don’t have to feel bad about killing them.
I’m going to hold out hope a little longer, so feel free to share any green thumb knowledge.
I came in this morning to 70 new emails. 58 of which were warnings telling me my mailbox was over the size limit. It sent me one every 15 minutes starting just after I left the office last night.
Just thought I’d give you guys an update on my work situation. I think I’ve made some progress. I’ve resorted to using an excel file to manage my todo list. Seems to really be helping. I’ve designated Mondays as my admin day. Any non-creative task that can wait, does wait until Monday. That’s my day to sort and file, and send tons of emails, clean out my email, and ultimately get myself organized with the weeks projects. I close Outlook when I’m too overwhelmed, and really need to get something major accomplished.
I’ve been able to start two major projects that I hadn’t been able to get to before: our Spring Newsletter, and series of brochures for some special programs we offer. Yeah!
Still open to any tips…
I designed my first billboard when I was in 4th grade - I won a contest with Kansas City Power and Light, they were up all over the city.
I played a modern day prostitute in a drama at church one Sunday - I wore a wig, most people didn’t know it was me.
My brothers still tease me about the “tuna boats” that I made with stale hot dog buns. Com’on guys, I was in 5th grade - you should of been happy that someone thought to make lunch at all. :)
I was a gofer in a play in college.
I broke my arm when I was 3. I got really upset when they told me about taking an x-ray. They explained that they were going to take a picture of the inside of my arm. I thought they were actually going to cut open my arm and take a picture.
I’ve had mono twice. Once in college, once in January of ‘05. 2nd time around was MUCH worse.
Life verses: John 16:33 & Romans 8:28 - I realize they may not be typical “life verses”, but they are mine, and they are a reminder that it’s not about me, and the circumstances of my life, but it is all about God and what he can do with them.
I need to go to the grocery store.
Ok, finally I got some pics!

This was back in November at T-Rex restaurant at Legends. The Build-A-Dino’s were their b-day presents from me.

This was Christmas when we were all together!
