Surprise!

Posted in Life, Dating & Singleness at 11:59 am by Krissie

I went and surprised M for his birthday this weekend.  It was great!  God has good timing, cause I managed to feel bad long enough from my tonsils that M wasn’t as suspecting, but I got better just in time to follow through with the plan.  Literally, just in time.  At one point I was almost sure I was going to have to cancel the trip, but I’m glad it all worked out.

I got in really late on Friday night, and stayed with some friends of his who were in on the plan.  I had sent M a package that I called his birthday box with a few things in it.  One of which was a card with specific instructions to open it first thing Saturday morning.  The card is how he found out I was in town.

We went to brunch with his dad and sister.  Ran an errand, and then I took him to see Star Trek.  We both enjoyed the movie.  We went and spent some time with some of his extended family at a surprise party for someone else, and then met the couple I was staying with for dinner at a seafood place.  We finished the night with some incredible dessert - Banana’s Foster style crepes.  Really good.  Although I didn’t even eat half of mine.  I still haven’t gotten up to eating as much as I ate before my surgery, but I’ve made significant progress.  Several times this weekend, I looked at M and said, ok, I think I’m done. He’d look at my plate, which looked like I hadn’t touched it, and kind of laugh.

On Sunday we went to church, and then went to eat at a little local place that was really good, although I liked what he ordered better than what I ordered… as a side note, I think my taste buds are off, nothing has as much flavor as it should, which is why I think I liked his better cause it was a dish that has a pretty intense flavor. After lunch we went back to the house where I was staying… Did I mention that this couple lives right on the inter-coastal?  They have the most amazing view, and a cute little bench set up right on the water.  M and I went and sat out there for the rest of the time we had left, just relaxed, and M played with the little tiny crabs that were all over the place.  They kind of looked like spiders, which creeped me out a little at first, but he assured me they were harmless.

Then I had to go home :( but M had a good birthday, so it was a successful weekend.  I also think it was nice and good for us to spend time together for the first time when one or the other or both of us isn’t taking in so much newness.  I mean, I’d been there before, so I felt more comfortable with things, and in my opinion it was better time spent together without being so overwhelmed by taking in all of the newness of the area and what his life was like.

I didn’t take my camera and I didn’t get a picture of us this time around, so I’ll share this instead. On my layover in Dallas, we had this little text message exchange which really made me laugh.

M: Enjoy your layover… No flirting with the desk attendants just to get bumped up to first class.

Me: Haha. If I could take a pic of the desk attendants and send it to you I would. (He doesn’t have picture mail) You would be laughing. Very old men. One of them fat and bald.

M: That much easier to seduce then… I change my mind try to get two round trip tix out of them.

Me: k, I’ll see what I can do ;)

Me: happy flirting
